Submit ManuscriptArticles published in Louvre Abu Dhabi Research Journal are published in English, with extended abstracts provided in French and Arabic to improve accessibility and broaden global outreach. All published articles are freely available online under the CC Attribution 4.0 [CC BY-NC 4.0] license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) with no author process charges.

Paper Preparation
Call for Abstracts
The journal issues an annual call for abstracts, which is available on the journal’s website. Each call for abstracts will provide authors context on the suggested themes for Louvre Abu Dhabi Research Journal’s upcoming issues.
In response to the call for abstracts, authors are asked to submit an abstract proposal. The Editors will evaluate proposals for fit within the journal’s scope and return a decision to the author. If approved, the author will receive additional information at that time on preparing and submitting a full-length manuscript for consideration.
Proposals should be submitted via louvreabudhabijournal.scholasticahq.com and contain the following elements:

Title of the manuscript

The body of the abstract should be a maximum of 4,000 characters, excluding references

Provide a maximum of 5 illustrations to be included in the manuscript
Once your abstract is accepted, please adhere to the guidelines provided below for preparing your manuscript.
Manuscript
Manuscript files must be submitted as a Word document and formatted per the author/year Chicago Manual of Style. Louvre Abu Dhabi Research Journal encourages authors to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing their manuscript for submission:
1. Title Page
The journal uses a double anonymous peer review system. Therefore, authors should upload a separate title page including all of the following elements:

Manuscript title

List of authors and affiliations
-
Full names and affiliations (marked with superscript number) should be listed for all authors. The affiliations should be listed below the author names and include the following information: department, institution, city, state, country.

The corresponding author (marked with a superscript asterisk, *) should also provide a full address and current e-mail address.

Provide a brief bio for each author (a maximum of 1,000 characters per bio)

Acknowledgments;
-
All contributors who are not listed as authors should be mentionned in the Acknowledgments section.

Grant and funding information can be listed in the Acknowledgment section.
2. Manuscript
The manuscript file should have all author-identifying information removed and should include the following elements.
2.1. Abstract

The abstract must include the basic contents of the article. It should consist of between 2,000 and 4,000 characters, summarizing the question(s) being addressed and the findings.

Only English abstracts should be submitted. If you article is accepted, the abstract will be translated to and available in French and Arabic as well.
2.2. Keywords
- Keywords or short phrases suitable for indexing must be supplied (a maximum of 5 keywords)
2.3. Body Text
- The maximum character count for all manuscript types should nit exceed 32,000 characters.
- Manuscripts must be clearly written scholarly style, with careful attention to grammar, syntax, and overall readability. Authors may wish to have their papers professionally edited prior to submission.
2.4. References

References should be complete and relevant, formatted per the author/year Chicago Manual of Style.

References should be cited by (Name, Year) in the text and listed alphabetically in the reference section.
2.5. Figures and Tables

Figures and Tables must be sequentially numbered, including in-text citations
-
Figures should include a caption (e.g., Figure 1. The caption.) and be listed below the graphic

Figure images should be a minimum of 300 dpi
-
Tables should include a caption (e.g., Table 1. The caption) and be listed above the table. Tables should be editable, not provided as image files
-
Figures and Tables should be provided as part of the manuscript file
-
Authors are encouraged to provide alternative text for all images
2.6. Submitting Your Manuscript
Manuscripts are submitted as Word documents electronically at: louvreabudhabijournal.scholasticahq.com using the “Submit Manuscript” button above.
Please note you will need to create a Scholastica account before you can submit your first manuscript. You will be directed to do so once you click “Submit Manuscript.”
To submit your manuscript, you will have to complete the following steps within the Scholastica online platform:
a. Enter the title of your manuscript and click Save and continue.
b. Enter a brief abstract of the manuscript (2,000 characters max). The longer abstract (4,000 characters max) should remain in your manuscript file.
c. Provide 5 keywords to assist with indexing the article.
d. Answer the three required disclosure questions. Click Save and mark step as complete.
e. Add author information – Type each author’s name, email, degrees, and affiliations exactly as they should appear on the published manuscript. You will also be required to enter each author’s CRediT contribution and ORCID iD . The corresponding author will receive all email communication. The designation of first author, second author, third author, etc. is used to determine the author order for publication. Click Save and mark step as complete.
f. Upload the fully anonymized manuscript file as the primary manuscript file as well as the separate title page and any other additional files.
g. If reprinting material from another source (table, figures, images), upload a completed Permission to Reprint Form. Click Save and mark step as complete.
h. If there is funding to disclose, please do so on the optional fourth step. If there is no funding to disclose, you can click Save and mark step as complete.
i. Read and agree to the required disclaimers. Click Submit manuscript.
Receipt of each manuscript will be acknowledged immediately via email. You will receive notifications and can view the status of your manuscript at all times from your account home page.
Journal Policies
Peer Review Policy
Rigorous peer review will be conducted to uphold academic standards and ensure the quality and relevance of published articles. LAD Research Journal will utilize double anonymous peer review. Each submission will be screened initially by the Editors for fit with the journal’s scope and authors may be informed at that time that the journal has decided not to move forward with the submission. Accepted manuscripts will be reviewed by a minimum of two external peer reviewers within a timely manner. In some cases, an external review may be solicited by a member of the journal’s Editorial board. Authors may be asked to revise submissions based on feedback from Editors and Reviewers.
Permissions
Appropriate written permission is required for previously published or adapted material (figures, illustrations, photographs, tables, social media) or extensive quotations (400 or more words) from other sources (books, journals, or online sources).
The author is responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for reproducing material they did not create. In many cases, the copyright owner is the publisher (unless it is an open-access license in which the author retains ownership. Please note that some Creative Commons licenses require permission from the author, https://creativecommons.org/). Note that many historical works fall within public domain and do not require permission; however, photographs of this material may still require permission or a source line. Most publishers will grant permission free of charge. However, if a copyright holder requires any form of payment, the authors are responsible for the payment. Many copyright holders have copyright and permissions information available on their websites.
Appropriate acknowledgement should be listed as part of the Figure caption or as a Table note. (This will be dependent on style, how the attribution line is cited)

Use of the material for the life of the work
Prior Publication
Authors shall submit only original work that has not been published or distributed elsewhere and is not currently submitted for publication consideration elsewhere. Work made previously available in a preprint or repository will not constitute previous publication. However, edits are not permitted to preprint or repository submissions after publication in the journal. All submissions will be screened for plagiarism as well as the use of AI-written text as a standard part of the peer review process.
